AI agents (MCP)
Page Builder Sandwich for AI agents
Your WordPress site is its own MCP server. An AI assistant signs in as a WordPress user with an application password and can do what that user may do with Page Builder Sandwich — nothing more.
151 actions: 52 free, 99 in Pro.
Developer reference: every action, its REST route and its parameters
Set it up in three steps
Check the switch
You need WordPress 6.9 or later and Page Builder Sandwich 6.24.0 or later. In the plugin’s settings, “Allow AI agents (MCP)” is on unless you turned it off.
Create an application password
In WordPress, open Users, then Profile, and add an application password named after your AI app. Copy it: WordPress shows it once.
Add the site to your AI app
Use your WordPress username, the application password and your site’s connection address:
https://example.com/wp-json/pbs/v1/mcpConfiguration for popular AI apps
Every app below talks to your site through the official WordPress proxy, @automattic/mcp-wordpress-remote. Replace the address, username and password with yours.

Add the connection address as a custom connector in Claude, or as an app in ChatGPT developer mode. They open your site so you can approve them as a WordPress user, with no application password to copy. Your site needs pretty permalinks.
Other apps
Any app that supports MCP servers over standard input and output can use the same command and settings. Apps that only connect to remote HTTP servers can reach the connection address directly with the same username and application password.
What an AI agent can do
Everything the plugin’s own screens can do. Actions marked Pro need a Page Builder Sandwich Pro licence.
Free edition
- Self-host a font (Free) — Downloads a Google font family (family, weights, italic) and serves it from this site.
- Add a section to a page (Free) — Adds a ready-made section to a page: at the start, at the end, or after the section at a given position.
- Generate a section with AI (Free) — Turns a one-sentence description into a ready-designed section (real, editable blocks in the site’s brand style) with text written for it. Returns the block markup, and adds it to the start or end of a page when a post_id is given (a revision keeps what was there before).
- Save an SEO title and description (Free) — Saves a meta title and description into the SEO plugin the site uses (Yoast SEO, Rank Math, SEOPress or All in One SEO) and says which ones were written.
- Suggest an SEO title and description with AI (Free) — Reads a page and suggests a meta title (up to 60 characters) and meta description (up to 155), optionally around a focus keyword. Nothing is saved.
- Undo an AI change (Free) — Puts a page back the way it was before an AI change, from the undo_revision that change returned.
- Write image alt text with AI (Free) — Looks at images and saves alt text for them: one image (attachment_id), or every image on a page that has none (post_id). At most 20 images per call; the answer says how many remain.
- Write or rewrite text with AI (Free) — Writes new text, or improves, shortens, expands, changes the tone of or fixes the grammar of a piece of text, with the site’s own AI provider. Returns the new text; nothing on the site is changed.
- Import a website kit (Free) — Imports a website kit’s pages (all of them, or the ones named), optionally publishing them, setting the home page and adding them to a menu. Importing again updates the same pages.
- Build a landing page (Free) — A guided workflow: the agent picks sections that fit your business, builds the page as a draft and writes its text.
- Connect to support (Free) — Connects this site to Zinn Digital® support (name, email, consent).
- Convert one legacy page (Free) — Converts one 5.x page to blocks (backed up first).
- Create a page (Free) — Creates a page from library sections and/or block content. A new page is a draft unless another status is asked for.
- Delete an uploaded icon (Free) — Removes an uploaded icon; blocks that used it keep their own copy.
- Move a page to the trash (Free) — Moves a page to the trash. It can be restored from Pages, Trash for 30 days.
- Disconnect from support (Free) — Disconnects this site from support.
- Duplicate a page (Free) — Copies a page (its title, content and template) into a new draft.
- Export designs and settings (Free) — Exports the chosen templates and patterns (ids) and, optionally, settings as one package for another site.
- Describe a builder block (Free) — Returns one block’s settings (attributes with their types, choices and defaults), what it supports, which blocks it may contain, and a ready-to-use example in block markup.
- Read the responsive breakpoints (Free) — Returns the tablet and mobile widths (and custom breakpoints in Pro) the responsive controls use.
- Read the site design (Free) — Returns the site-wide colours and fonts (heading and body) every block uses, as the Site design screen shows them.
- Read the site diagnostics (Free) — Returns the diagnostics a support ticket would carry: versions, active plugins, limits and recent errors.
- Read the licence (Free) — Returns this site’s Page Builder Sandwich plan, licence state, renewal date and what the plan includes.
- Read the legacy migration (Free) — Returns the 5.x content conversion’s progress and report.
- Read a page (Free) — Returns a page’s title, status, links and block content, and the sections (top-level blocks) it is made of.
- Read the plugin settings (Free) — Returns the front-end class prefix, the beta-updates state and whether AI agents (MCP) are allowed.
- Read the support connection (Free) — Says whether this site is connected to Zinn Digital® support, and as whom.
- Import designs and settings (Free) — Imports a Page Builder Sandwich design package (dryRun first to see what would change; mode: skip or replace; media; settings).
- List the builder blocks (Free) — Lists every Page Builder Sandwich block this site can use (Pro blocks too when Pro is active): name, title, category and description.

- List website kits (Free) — Lists the website kits (a set of ready-made pages for one kind of business) this site can import.

- Move a section (Free) — Moves a section of a page from one position to another (0-based, in the order the page lists them).
- Open a support ticket (Free) — Files a support ticket (subject, message, kind, email), with this site’s diagnostics when the administrator agreed. It never creates a login or sends one.
- Consent to support diagnostics (Free) — Records the administrator’s consent to send diagnostics with support tickets.
- Remove a block from a page (Free) — Removes one block (a whole section, or a block inside one) from a page, found by its path. The page’s previous version stays in its revisions.
- Remove a self-hosted font (Free) — Deletes a self-hosted font family’s files.

- Undo one conversion (Free) — Restores one converted page from its backup.
- Undo the legacy migration (Free) — Restores every converted post from its backup.
- Change one block’s settings (Free) — Changes the settings (attributes) of one block inside a page, found by its path; attributes you send are merged over the current ones. Works on blocks the site renders from their settings; a block whose HTML is saved in the page is changed by replacing the page’s markup.
- Change the responsive breakpoints (Free) — Changes the tablet and mobile widths in pixels; with Pro, custom extra breakpoints.
- Change the site design (Free) — Changes the site-wide colours (colors), fonts (fonts, headingFont, bodyFont). Every page picks the change up; the theme’s theme.json is kept in sync.

- Change the plugin settings (Free) — Changes the front-end class prefix (1 to 8 lowercase letters or digits, starting with a letter) and/or turns AI agents (MCP) on or off (mcp: false removes every ability and the MCP endpoint).

Pro edition
- Turn on an uploaded font (Pro) (Pro) — Makes an uploaded custom font (a font file in the media library, by id) available in the font pickers.
- Add a product block or mini cart (Pro) (Pro) — Adds a WooCommerce block at the end of a post: a product element (part: title, gallery, image, price, rating, excerpt, description, add_to_cart, meta, tabs, related, upsells, sale_badge, stock; productId, or 0 for the product being viewed) or a mini cart (label).
- Check a page’s accessibility (Pro) — Lists a page’s accessibility problems: images without alt text, headings that skip a level, links whose text says nothing on its own, and links with no text. Each says whether it can be fixed automatically.
- Create a custom block with AI (Pro) — Designs a reusable component from a description (a pricing card, a team card, a banner) and saves it as a synced pattern in the editor’s “My patterns”, with each text overridable per placement. Returns its id and the block that places it.
- Explain, write or fix CSS with AI (Pro) — Explains, writes or fixes the custom CSS of one element, where `selector` stands for the element. Returns the CSS and an explanation; nothing is saved.
- Design a page from a screenshot or a link with AI (Pro) — Recreates the layout of a screenshot (an image in the media library) or of a public web page (its address) as editable blocks in a new draft page: the same sections, columns, headings, text, lists and buttons. Logos and images are not copied.
- Edit a page with the AI assistant (Pro) — Changes a page as asked in plain words (“make the hero text shorter”, “add an FAQ about delivery after the pricing”, “translate the page into German”). AI answers with edit operations that are checked against the page’s blocks and their settings before anything is applied; refused operations are listed with the reason. A revision is saved first and its id returned as undo_revision.
- Fix a page’s accessibility with AI (Pro) — Fixes the accessibility problems that can be fixed (all, or the listed issue ids): alt text written by looking at each image, heading levels corrected, vague link texts rewritten. A revision is saved first and its id returned as undo_revision.
- Generate an image with AI (Pro) — Creates an image from a description with the site’s image model (OpenAI or Google) and saves it to the media library with alt text. Returns its id and address.

- Apply the brand kit (Pro) (Pro) — Applies the saved brand kit’s colours and fonts to the site design.
- Apply a find-and-replace (Pro) (Pro) — Applies a previewed job. Every changed post keeps a backup, so the job can be undone.

- Check a page’s performance (Pro) — Reports what a page’s content adds to its weight: its images (bytes, oversized ones and the smaller size that would do), the stylesheets of the blocks it uses and its third-party embeds, each problem with its fix.
- Connect Adobe Fonts (Pro) (Pro) — Connects an Adobe Fonts (Typekit) web project by its kit id, so its fonts appear in the font pickers.

- Convert an export from another builder (Pro) (Pro) — Converts an export (builder: elementor, divi, beaver or wpbakery; content: the exported text) into a new draft page made of blocks, optionally copying its images into the media library (media). Answers with the draft and a conversion report.
- Convert a page from another builder (Pro) (Pro) — Converts one page built with Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder or WPBakery (id) into a new draft made of blocks, keeping its layout, typography, colours and images; the original page is not changed. Answers with the draft and a report of what was converted, approximated or not converted. dryRun converts without saving.

Each run cleans one batch; “more” is true while findings remain.

Safe by design
Each action checks the same WordPress permission as the plugin’s own screen, for the exact page or post it touches. A subscriber cannot connect at all.
Application passwords can be revoked at any time under Users, Profile, without changing your normal password.
Turn “Allow AI agents (MCP)” off and the actions and the connection address disappear from the site.
Pages an agent changes keep their WordPress revisions, so any change can be undone.
Hosted with Zinn Digital®?
If Zinn Digital® hosts the site, our own MCP server can use these actions for you without an application password: connect your AI app to the Zinn Digital® MCP server and use wordpress_abilities_list and wordpress_ability_run.
